those bear cans are SIZEABLE. I can't fathom how all this fits and is still so much lighter than my pack. it's always over 40lbs and my bear can is half that size

my partner and I hike but I can't escape the guilty feeling that because I'm a shorter woman and he's tall and very fit, that I'm much slower and weighing him down. does anyone have any tips on how to deal with this?
