I really thought I was finally going to bring my mom home. Last week, I shared that everything was booked, paid for, and ready. My little boy and I were counting down the days until our trip to Ontario to bring her home after her cremation. Then I got a phone call on Friday. There was paperwork nobody knew about that takes 8–9 weeks to process. So while the disinterment and cremation are still happening, she won't be coming home with us this trip. I'm devastated. This journey was supposed to be part of my healing. Instead, it feels like every time I get close, another obstacle appears. But we're still going. My son and I will make the best of our time together, visit family, and keep moving forward one step at a time. Healing isn't always a straight line.
