@richy_goh: Some encouraging scenes from Kisseman–Christian Village, where dredging works have been done to restore the main bridge. The coordinated effort by the the Ghana Armed Forces and @NADMO GHANA is a welcome response in the aftermath of the recent floods. While post-flood interventions are commendable, the real victory lies in preventing such disasters before they happen. Regular desilting, strict enforcement against encroachment on waterways, and continuous maintenance of drainage infrastructure must become the norm, not just emergency responses after lives and property have already been affected. But government action alone is not enough. We, as citizens, also have a role to play. Drains become blocked because of indiscriminate dumping of refuse, poor waste disposal habits, and a general disregard for our shared environment. Until our attitudes change, flooding will remain a recurring challenge. My hope is that these efforts mark the beginning of a long-term commitment from both authorities and the public.
