I think you are misled that you believe these people had the knowledge but no understanding I truly believe these people understood 100% but acceptable losses and return on investment was add an acceptable level that they could deal with or at least some of them believe this and sold this to the higher powers I'll let stage capitalism knows the downfalls of the system but the benefit to the few outweighs the losses of the many in our current system and they are fine with it.

Yes. Knowledge is also not automatically equal to competence. Many people know but cannot DO.

On Robert McNamara: actually he disagreed with Johnson about the Vietnam war and shown the door. Then Johnson expanded the war, and Nixon even expanded it to include Laos. Also, McNamara and JFK managed the Cuban missile crisis quite well vs avis the Pentagon who wanted to bomb and bomb which very likely could have resulted the Nuclear missiles in Cuba being fired and would have resulted in WWIII .. so enough BS about devaluating education

I've always felt that the old saying knowledge is power is always a little short-sighted. so I've come up with a new saying knowledge is "Power and wisdom is control." understand=wisdom

Spot on! This, is a huge problem in the country now - a large percentage of the voting population has cognitive dissonance, and is empowering leadership that has the problem you so eloquently explained

This is an excellent point - very well presented ! Thank you - Nassim Nicholas Taleb emphasizes that real experience, especially when tied to risk, is far more powerful than theoretical knowledge. He says that studying courage in books doesn’t make you courageous, and that his own technical knowledge came from taking risks in the markets. In short, for Taleb, having skin in the game is what turns knowledge into true wisdom. Read his book “Skin in the game” it’s well worth it !
