Homemade McDonald’s chicken nuggets🍗 Disclaimer: this is a funny video- nothing more, nothing less. I did not eat these nuggets. This is a demonstration of the industrial processing steps used in fast food. McDonald’s is not literally soaking the chicken in bleach- they source cheap chickens that have gone through a similar, low-concentration chlorine bath (a practice that’s banned in the EU). They’re also not using industrial cleaner TSP for the trisodium phosphate, they’re using a food-grade equivalent. They’re also deboning and probably not grinding chicken feet nails included. This video does not claim that eating McDonald’s chicken nuggets will directly harm you. It’s meant to shed light on how highly processed fast foods can be- especially when mass-produced for consistency, cost-cutting, and shelf stability. This video is describing the general process of making the McDonald’s chicken nuggets BUT not mirroring the exact process- it’s optimized to make a watchable video- for example, McDonald’s fry the nuggets twice, freeze them, etc, things that are not shown in the video. When food additives are described as “safe,” remember that we often lack long-term studies on their full effects. While these ingredients may be “generally recognized as safe” in small amounts, I personally see no benefit in consuming them at all. For those of you crying that this is ‘wasting food’ - if this video gets one person to think before they go on autopilot to McDonald’s or grab other garbage fast food then maybe it’s not a waste?? At the end of the day, eat what you want- but be informed about what you’re actually eating.
