I saw Crumbl’s Minecraft Dirt Cake and immediately knew I wanted to see if I could recreate it with Dollar Tree ingredients! The goal here wasn’t to copy the exact cinnamon-vanilla flavor, but instead to recreate that adorable Minecraft dirt block look in a way that’s easy, affordable, and perfect for a birthday party. Here’s how I did it: You’ll need: 1 box chocolate cake mix + ingredients called for on box 1 box vanilla cake mix + ingredients called for on box Chocolate fudge frosting Vanilla buttercream frosting Green food coloring Parchment paper Prepare both cake mixes according to their package directions. Combine portions of the chocolate and vanilla batters in different ratios to make several shades of brown. Layer the different colors together, then VERY gently swirl them, a couple passes is plenty! You want visible color variation, not one completely blended batter. Pour into a parchment-lined baking pan and bake according to the cake mix directions, adjusting the time as needed for your pan. This is two boxes of cake mix, so use a large enough pan or divide the batter between multiple pans. Let the cake cool completely before cutting. Trim off the outer edges, then cut the cake into roughly equal squares. Slice each square horizontally to create two layers. Flip the top layer upside down so the flat bottom of the cake becomes your nice, level Minecraft block top. Add a generous layer of chocolate fudge frosting between the two pieces. For the grass, tint vanilla buttercream green (or grab green frosting if your Dollar Tree has it!) and pipe it back and forth over the top with an open star tip. Mine cost about $10 in ingredients, and your yield will depend on your pan and how large you cut your blocks, but roughly 10–12 is a good target. I also experimented with mini square baking molds and frosted the sides to make more traditional little cubes, which aren’t perfect but might actually look even MORE Minecraft-y. 😂 Which version wins: the Crumbl-inspired cake slice or the little cube? 💚⛏️ #CrumblCookies #Minecraft #MinecraftCake #DollarTreeRecipes #DollarTreeDinners #BudgetBaking #BirthdayPartyIdeas #MinecraftBirthday #EasyDesserts #CrumblCopycat
