you have to do all that. you can keep 25 dozen finger mullet in a 150 quart cooler with a pond aerator and inverter from harbor freight. I drill one small hole in lid. I do this for living.

why not a submersible pump that way everything will be on the inside? only wires running out. that way you can use the ice chest as an ice chest.

20 dollars? igloo cooler 100. drill 130. holedrill bit. 50. pump 35. hose 10. battery 99. wires with clamps 15. wire connectors 5. sealant 12. pvc 15. drill bits for hole 40. pvc clamps 8. thats a lot more then 20 dollars.

Get a 12v air pump. Drill two holes in lid 1 to stick air hose into and just attach air stone and one to let air out. Add better bait and done. Brings in fresh oxygen vs recycling what airs in the cooler and less battery usage with air pump no hoses to catch on outside. I even unplug the hoses and use it on weekends with ice and drinks
