The hadith does not prove that the Qur'an was incomplete or unpreserved. It proves exactly the opposite. During the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ lifetime, the Qur'an had already been fully revealed, written down by his appointed scribes on various materials, and memorized by numerous Companions. What did not exist was a single bound volume (mushaf), because revelation was still ongoing until the Prophet's passing. After the Battle of Yamamah, Abu Bakr commissioned Zayd ibn Thabit to compile the already-preserved Qur'an into one official manuscript—not to reconstruct a lost text. Zayd was instructed to verify every verse using both written records and the testimony of memorizers, making the compilation process exceptionally rigorous. Even the statement that he found the final verses of Surah At-Tawbah with only one Companion refers to the written copy meeting the compilation criteria, not to the verses being known by only one person. If the Qur'an had truly been incomplete or forgotten, the Companions would never have reached unanimous agreement on its contents. This hadith is therefore evidence of meticulous preservation, not evidence of corruption or incompleteness.

God does not need air to live because air is a creature that he created himself, God is also the one who created time, space and place, God existed before everything existed, God existed before time and place were created, we believe that time and place are creatures created by God, therefore in the Quran, God does not need any creatures, if God does then he is weak, in Islam, God is not weak. God is powerful, he is the one who will reward heaven for those who do good deeds and God is also the one who will punish those who deny his prophets and change the holy book. The Quran was written and approved by Mohammed while alive , he even recited it word for word and told to have it memorized. And what was written came with instructions of what goes where. The collection of all the writings were put together after the death of Mohammed.

If it was perfectly preserved, that would be an even bigger argument against it being truthful. For it overtly contradicts itself and a contradiction cannot be true. Either its truth has been poorly preserved and miscommunicated, making it currently unreliable, or it was never true.
