Why is it that people who were so opposed to EVs a few years ago - the very gradual adoption of EVs that would have to take place over the course of decades because nothing like the majority of people would ever be able to afford to just go out and replace their cars with EVs in a short time frame - stating that they would put too much burden on the power grid, you know, trickle charging at night, adding 15-25 miles of range per day to refill from the average person's commute, that would be too much. But they're totally in favor of corporations building massive data centers which cause a much higher load, 24 hours a day, and can be built in a few months? that's a rhetorical question, btw, I know why

Data centers convert 100% of their energy into HEAT. the laws of thermodynamics mean you cannot destroy that heat just Move it. they PUMP IT Out into the atmosphere. Data centers are making it FUCKN WORSE.

the country first learned about brown-outs and rolling blackouts back in the late 90s when California was first filling up with data centers during the dotcom bubble, now Virginia is filling up with data centers for the AI bubble and go figure, the grid area with Virginia in it is having blackouts and brown-outs
