The writers of the declaration of independence was talking to the aristocrats of England. They realized they had “access” to land that the rich and royals couldn’t take so they took it, only so they could “compete” with the same people they claimed they despised. It’s been 250 years and not much has changed. We still have politicians chasing the rich of the world while using us plebs to line their pockets.

Slavery was intended to be abolished, but to get the southern states to sign on to declaration of independence they compromised and left that out leaving ground for it to be added later.
