Good on you sis, totally agree with you, funny thing I’m NZ born Samoan and at times my own people think I’m Maori, but once they start talking about me at least I can give it back to them. My girls are Maori/Samoan and I’ve taught them no matter what they have the best of both worlds and be proud of both heritage.

Girl this!!!!! Having a very white maori mum and Samoan dad, I can 100% empathise what your daughter felt. Too maori to be samoan, too brown to be white, to white to be brown blah blah blah. Soo ugly because it’s not just the old people! Sending loves 🥰🥰

How did you know what she was thinking? Could be tired, hungry, annoyed, grieving, worried, lost in own thoughts... anything! You also don't want to stereotype women as "angry brown/black woman". Unless someone outright says something to me that's rude, I wouldn't worry about it. You could say "Hi, how are you?🙂", if you're feeling friendly and want to break the ice🥶. Just some foods for thought🩷

I am not Tokelauen but my partner was Tokelauen, so I was participating in the Tokelau Easter Festival here in Aotearoa and was practicing Fatele in Auckland for the first time as we had just moved from our home town to Auckland. One of the Aunties put me in the front in the middle and you should of felt and seen the stink eyes and stink energy from some of those women….. man!!!
