@cbsnewyork: Times Square hosted eight ball drops to celebrate Independence Day, with each occurring at midnight in every American time zone, including U.S. territories. The first ball drop took place at 10 a.m. Friday, marking midnight in Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The next took place at 11:59 p.m., marking midnight on the East Coast. Hundreds lined up to watch and count down to the moment. The ball used is the same one that millions watched usher in 2026. The Waterford crystal ball weighs over 12,000 pounds and measures about 12.5 feet in diameter.
