Also! Fire safety plan! From the time mine can walk and, understand it, we go over a fire safety plan. I tell them over and over that their only job is to get outside and go to a neighbors house. They are not to worry about siblings, parents, pets, toys. Outside anyway you can get there and get a neighbor for help. We also go over how to get outside safely in a fire, like staying low, crawling, how to break a window and how to cut a screen with just whatever’s around. It’s also so important that they know not to hide if they are stuck inside and to report to an officer or firefighter while outside so they know they’re safe. I teach them to yell out their location and their name so that the fire fighters can get to them quickly. And how to shield themselves in the event they are stuck. Obviously this is taught at different levels for different ages. My 9yo knows all of this. My 2yo only knows how to crouch and yell her name and get to a door (she can’t open knobs yet)

Our daughter knows our full names and will scream her dad’s name in public and it’s actually hilarious 🤣 we got married last weekend and when she saw him at the end of the aisle she screamed JULIAN!!! 🤣🤣

Okay I’m a first time mom to a 2 yr old and 7 week old twins, how do I go about teaching these things? My son doesn’t sit down much to learn stuff (trying to get better and teaching him things and getting him to sit for activities and things) but we both really struggle sometimes

I learned recently that in elevators the exit is marked with a star next to the right button so I’ve been teaching my girl that’s where she should meet me in buildings if something happens !
