Guys I think I’m going insane tell me why I wrote a long paragraph about a stupid show that I can’t let go of: I don’t think I’ll ever be ready to say goodbye to Stranger Things. How am I supposed to move on from something that felt like so much more than just a show? Take me back to Hawkins, Indiana, in the year of 1983. Take me back to Mike’s basement, to four boys playing D&D before we knew what was coming. Take me back to the Christmas lights, the Eggos, original Coke, torches in the dark, bikes racing down empty streets, Hawkins Lab, Will’s living room, the Creel House. Take me back to when there was always another episode waiting, another season to look forward to, another mystery we hadn’t solved yet. I miss the waiting. I miss the theories. I miss not knowing what would happen next. I miss watching it for the first time, before I knew how much it would come to mean to me. They told us it was a never-ending story, but somehow here we are, at the end. And maybe that’s what hurts the most, knowing I can rewatch every episode but never experience it for the first time again. Hawkins may not be real, but somehow it became home. So no, I’m not ready to let go, and I don’t think I ever will be. Somewhere, frozen in 1983, the basement lights are still on, the D&D game is waiting to begin, and four boys are getting ready to ride their bikes home. And if I had one wish, I wouldn’t ask for anything new. I’d ask to forget it all, just so I could press play and find my way back home. One last time. Take me back to Hawkins. Take me back to 1983. Just one last time. 😢
