For a guy who hates the Zenin clan so much, his neglect for Megumi perfectly encapsulates the Zenin clan's most toxic trait. The core values of the Zenin clan are purely political, forced majorly on reputation and status, as a side product of this it is a commonality that individuals born to the clan that are weak or out of the norm are then to be disgraced, punished, and most importantly neglected for placing a stain on their families legacy, we see these familial values perfectly encapsulated with Maki and Mai, and even more so, with Toji himself. Toji was born to the Zenin clan with a heavenly restriction, having no cursed energy and immense physical power, he was prone to these conditions of isolation and neglect, it’s only fitting that in his adult years, he would be more likely to pass down these these things to his children, whether purposeful or not. Toji’s wife was his hook to humanity, she is what allowed him to become a better person and father, using her as a moral compass and a crutch, he would have been capable of supporting his children and being active in their lives, so when she died, not only did he lose his wife, he literally lost his heart, in a way that is very resemblant Mai taking Maki’s heart (only that was in a more Jujutsu related literally sense.) regardless, without his wife, he was forced to fall back into his original values, taking on gambling again, assassin work, this is the version of him we see in Hidden Inventory. Toji doesn’t gaf about Megumi, he doesn’t love Megumi, he doesn’t care about Megumi, and honestly he might even have some contempt for Megumi, the way he sees it, there’s a very likely possibility that Megumi will be sold off to the Zenin clan, if that happens, Toji’s legacy is ruined and his son is dead to him, this is the exact same level of neglect that the Zenin clan shows on a regular basis, it’s so bad to a degree that in this scene playing in this clip, Toji literally doesn’t know his own sons name, that’s how much he doesn’t love him or care about him.
