I was 13, it was the first year my mom was single after she left my dad. We couldn’t afford fireworks that year so we sat on the front porch eating dinner after she came home from work and watched the fireworks..I think about that moment all the time

I never appreciated how much my mom did for me when she got divorced. The fact that the love of her life just up and left her is something I never fully grasped. We spent so many holidays just me and her. And I hated it. But looking back on that I would do anything just to let her know I cherished those times. There wasn’t much conversation, just an unspoken agreement that we were gonna get through this together.

I think the mom has passed away and the kid is watching them alone and the dad is doing something inside that’s why it’s a plot twist it’s assumed he has moved away and he’s with mom then he comes out and the kid calls him dad.

I watched the fireworks alone last night for the third year in a row. It was a tough one but the beauty of the fireworks & seeing everyone else together made my soul happy, even being alone. In my mind, I’m not really alone, I’m watching the fireworks with my loved ones who are no longer physically here, the ones traveling, and everyone I’ve been grateful to meet in between. But inside, I would give anything to watch the fireworks from the dock with just my dad & brother one last time. I really hate growing up

I don’t think I’ve told anyone this. But when I was little my family and I went to a well known park for the fireworks and there was this boy in front of us with his family. And we always would catch a glance at each other and smile and when my family and I went to leave he gave me a flower. And I was too embarrassed to tell my mom but it was the nicest thing smb had done for me🫶
