@elliot_duprey: I will always promote natural fibers over synthetics but we need to be informed consumers before all else! Synthetic fibers have their place for fashion, for safety, for health, or for performance if we take the time to understand when and why. #naturalfibers #fashion #fashiontok #fashionhistory #fabric
That’s not the reason we hate polyester babe it literally is one of the largest pollutants and contributors of landfill waste

Thank you, some of the blanket statements that some creators make about polyester are totally unjustified

It lacks breathability, traps odors, and has a significant environmental impact, because it is cheaper, allows a massive production of clothes for overconsumption, that is what we don't need, I wonder how it would be if polyester doesn't exist 🤔

polyesters are a net negative because they can't be recycled as easily as natural fibers that are in many ways extremely consumptive in terms of energy and carbon footprint. obviously synthetics are a historical progressive like most technological advancements, because the improve human conditions fx they can keep people warm for less. but that doesn't mean we need to be as reductive as the people who say synthetic bad.

Thank you! Synthetic fibres/ fabrics are things that we created to solve problems and improve functional clothing. Sportswear has undergone a revolution and we have benefited massively from the innovation of synthetic fibres. You can stay warmer, dryer, cooler, and more comfortable for longer because of synthetic fibres. For anyone who’s been drinking the koolaid from their favourite “natural” creators, let’s check in after you run a marathon in cotton shorts.

I enjoy this type of videos, makes me think to be more caring when I’m shopping for clothes and buy things that I can appreciate. Also I really love the change in background, Happy 4th of July!

And old polyester (aka vintage) is better than buying new polyester, always! I love buying vintage silks and wool but anything to stop the cycle of consumption is better than nothing

I do love it for stretch and wicking BUT I hate that brands try to pass off a 100% polyester garment for a ridiculous mark up.

all good but bae ngl you're talking like it's your first day under capitalism. they'll always use synthetic material to manufacture cheap, less durable garments to sell at absurd prices.

Polyester still seeps microplastics into everything and it will still start to stink faster than natural fibres, every benefit that polyester has can be engineered and achieved eventually with natural fibres given enough research and development. At the end of the day polyester is ultimately cheaper and makes more money

A little bit of synthetic in socks is lifesaving for mending. A little bit of stretch in undergarments especially is essential

Far too many people in these comments conflating synthetic fibres with extreme fast fashion. You can have well made, durable synthetic clothing and cheap, poorly made natural fibre items. Yes we should push back on the mass production of bad synthetic clothing but that doesn’t mean the fibres themselves don’t have uses in certain circumstances.

All that engineering yet Merino sheep wool is still the best for cold weather and linen still the best for hot weather. And none of them mess up your fertility
