as a girl I wasn't not encouraged to play video games. I had to save up for my own games whereas my brother got all the consols and games he wanted, and in time my parents realized I actually liked gaming but I was teen by the time I was getting games as presents. I wasnt allowed boy over for years and had to have the door open at all times. my brother had girls over and had the door closed ...double standards. my parents meant well, but as a kids from tbe 90s and 00s it was shoved down their throats how to raise girls and boys....I had hoped things would have improved by now.
