this is why I don't believe in putting two weeks notice they won't give you two weeks notice to fire you they just fire you so why should they get 2 weeks notice to fill in the position when it's not your problem

Wait I’m so confused how does it work in the USA?? In Mexico it’s better for a company if you quit because when they fire you they have to pay A LOT in compensation for firing you

In Canada you can refuse to let the employee work their two weeks but you still need to pay them for the two weeks.

I put in a month notice at a job when I was leaving and they called me in at the end of the day to say they were letting me go immediately but they had to pay me for my notice. So I got a month free vacation. So I called my new job and started two weeks later. So I actually got a two week paid vacation and got doubled paid for two weeks.

If they terminate you after you give notice, they have to pay you out. If they don’t report them to the Labor Board in your state

If they fire you after you put in your notice, guess who has to pay you severance and depending on how long youve been there, they may be better off letting you work the 2 wks. At least thats how it works in Canada.

Even in an at-will state, at least in mine; if you’re fired after giving formal 2 weeks notice requires them to pay you full wages based on your regular schedule. Unemployment insurance will help you get that bread. Easiest come up and paid vacation I’ve ever had. And just for extra flair I refused to help them finish my open projects they had assigned to me as I was terminated 😁

I don't understand, isn't it better for the company for the employee to quit instead of firing them? because if they fire them, they have to pay inmdemnizations. Doesn't work that way in the US?

In my country, if you give your two weeks notice. The company is free to let you go on the spot, but they are legally required to pay you for the two weeks.
