I live in NYC so I mostly see people complaining about the “landlords” that are actually huge companies that own 100s of buildings across the 5 boroughs. The window to buy a house in NYC has also been closed since the 90s considering most of them are $1M+ no matter the condition. It wouldn’t be financially smart to buy them for renting purposes anyways since you’d be competing with said corporations who can offer better conditions for the same cost.
