as a medic I have left many quarters on my fallen brothers stones. I have carried some of them home to their families and carry that honor deep in my soul. I have heard the blood curtling cries of a mother and watched fathers break in ways that defy understanding. but through all of that I can say that their soldier got home and they had the answers they had to have. side note if you see a foreign coin on a stone do not touch it under any circumstances. that coin is where that soldier met his end and the person that put that coin there was with them at the end and pays his respect for his sacrifice in a distant land. DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THOSE COINS FOR ANY REASON

I never knew. Now I do! Im glad to know now. My son at 9 not knowing what the money meant put the last change his grandpa gave him. I'm a military wife,daughter,niece and great granddaughter. Everytime I come across a soldiers grave i leave a penny and a prayer that they may rest and we have it from here.
