@shannrwbcmn: UPDATE: 🙏 Poor River was not able to have his surgery today. After reviewing his CT scan with contrast, the specialist discovered that River’s condition is much more complicated than originally thought. Not only is his ear canal shattered, but his nasal cavity has also been punctured. Because of the extent of the damage and the chronic infection he has been battling, the surgery is extremely complex. Rather than moving forward today, the specialist wants additional surgeons and specialists to review his case so they can develop the safest and most effective surgical plan possible. They are determining whether one surgery or two surgeries will be needed and the best way to repair both the ear canal and nasal cavity. Of course, we were disappointed. But I am grateful they are being so thorough. River has already been through so much, and everyone wants to give him the very best chance for a successful outcome. The good news? River got to go home. ❤️ One of the incredible medical technicians at the vet, who has cared for him throughout this journey, has completely fallen in love with him—and so has her family. Instead of recovering in a kennel, River is now resting in a loving home surrounded by comfort, affection, and people who adore him.
