@ghost_of_discoreaper: The EPA’s latest Water Quality in Ireland 2025 report highlights elevated nitrate concentrations in many Irish rivers and groundwater monitoring sites. As an engineer with over 30 years’ experience, part of my career involved working around municipal water treatment plants, industrial process systems and the bottled drinks industry. This video is not intended to suggest that Irish tap water is unsafe to drink. Instead, it’s an explanation of how conventional drinking water treatment works, what it was originally designed to remove, and why I personally chose to install a reverse osmosis (RO) system in my own home. Conventional treatment plants are exceptionally effective at removing suspended solids, bacteria and harmful microorganisms. However, many dissolved contaminants that concern people today—including nitrates, PFAS (“forever chemicals”), many pharmaceuticals and some endocrine-disrupting compounds—often require additional or more advanced treatment technologies, depending on the contaminant and the treatment process used. For me, reverse osmosis isn’t about fear. It’s about understanding the engineering, understanding the limitations of every treatment system, and choosing to add another layer of filtration that I control, service and monitor myself. Benefits of Reverse Osmosis in the Home ✔ Produces exceptionally low Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) water. ✔ Removes a very wide range of dissolved contaminants, including nitrates, many heavy metals, PFAS, dissolved salts and many pharmaceuticals (performance varies by contaminant and membrane specification). ✔ Can improve the taste and odour of drinking water. ✔ Reduces reliance on bottled water. ✔ Saves money over time compared with regularly buying bottled water. ✔ Reduces single-use plastic waste. ✔ Provides consistently filtered drinking water directly from your kitchen tap. I’ve personally used a Renewal Water reverse osmosis system for years and wouldn’t be without it. Renewal Water have kindly offered viewers of this channel 10% off using my discount code. Irish Eddie :
We had the old pump in the yard and the hottest summer. It never went dry. It was cold spring water then they run the water scheme past our house. The water taste exactly like the water in Lough ennel near Mullingar.

I haven't drank straight from the tap in years. Not since I learned that it is basically recycled time and time again.
