I don’t get how the wife didn’t immediately talk/call/txt to her husband about the convo with mom. I immediately communicate with my husband about his dad so we are on the same page and are seen as a united front where this doesn’t happen.

Just curious, does your mother also need to call before she is coming or it's just reserve for MIL? And be honest-did you really intent later to call your MIL to see baby? I have two small children and they are not in a phase boyfriend/girlfriend so you don't think this is some hate comment from some MIL. I have MIL who is really amazing person and I love her very much. It seems to me that today is so much hate on MIL in some cases for no reason and I am afraid what is coming for me one day when my children get married
