“Hialeah, Florida, 15-year-old Derek Rosa — who was 13 when he fatally stabbed his 39-year-old mother, Elina Garcia, 46 times as she slept in their apartment — pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 25 years in prison plus 20 years probation, a deal that includes time at a youthful offender camp before transfer to the Department of Corrections, after a crime that shocked the community and highlighted the horrific nature of youth violence. Prosecutors revealed that Rosa not only committed the brutal stabbing, but also took a bloody selfie and photos of his mother’s body, sending them to a friend, who initially thought the images were a grim joke, and he called 911 to confess to police shortly after the killing in October 2023 while a newborn daughter of the victim was nearby and unharmed. At his sentencing hearing in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, Rosa offered a brief apology, saying simply, “I’m sorry,” as relatives and the state’s attorney spoke of the enduring tragedy and pain inflicted on the family, while prosecutors have noted his reported fascination with horror figures and graphic violence leading up to the murder.”

I don't know what was the reason but on my observation this is how some kids being eaten by jealousy specially when there is wide gap with the first born and the second baby. when everyone is too busy ,excited for the new baby the eldest felt like he was being ignored and neglected by everyone..the adjustment of emotion they can't handle specially he is a teenager.

start teaching kids between bad and good .I remember when we were growing up we were told the the devil doesn't like kids who say bad words cause he is gonna burn them into hell or steal them i think that fear and consciousness needs to be brought back since he is asking if it was bad to send pictures to his friend I'm sorry to the Mother .The friends probably.influenced or dared him.
