For those commenting she should’ve spoken up, it’s likely she didn’t know this was the situation. Just because you’re related to someone (distantly at that) doesn’t mean you know what’s happening in their life.

i was born and raised in montana and my family was POOR but i never truly saw poverty until i moved to appalachia at 30. i love it here so much and will always advocate for the people bc its ABSOLUTELY systemic.

I would say this is hypocritical... however, there are hints in there that suggest she had broken out of this dynamic, so probably wasn't involved enough any longer to even be aware of what was unfolding in the present. I know that while I completely understand some of my family dynamics - i am now so far removed from them - that I wouldn't have a CLUE what their lives are like currently🤷♀️
