I have done this. Trimming individual rows with a ruler and a rotary cutter to just trim a tiny little edge off is an easy way to open up those seams and you’re cutting into seam allowance after you’ve already sewed so it doesn’t make a big difference! Quick and easy!

I did this about 15 years ago. I used pixelated patterns and made a giant Mario mushroom pillow. My daughter eventually took it to her college dorm.
