@hillmark_africa_safaris: Kitagwenda Mpanga Gorge It's a hidden gem in Kitagwenda District, Western Uganda, about 30km off the Fort Portal–Kasese road and right next to Queen Elizabeth National Park. From Kampala it’s roughly 350km, so expect 6–7 hours by road via Mbarara or 7–8 hours via Fort Portal. The gorge slices through lush rainforest along the Mpanga River, with dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, natural swimming pools, and trails that lead to viewpoints of the Rwenzori foothills. You’ll spot colobus monkeys, rare birds, and butterflies with almost no crowds. The best time to visit is *June–August and December–February* during the dry season, when trails are firm and views are clear. The rainy months of *March–May and Sept–Nov* are greener with stronger waterfalls and great birding, but paths get muddy. Visit because it gives you raw, uncrowded nature, adventure, and calm all in one. It’s the perfect quiet detour to feel Uganda’s wild west without the tour bus rush. #visituganda #Hillmarkafricasafaris #YTC
