@historicengland: This 400-year-old medieval townhouse in Gloucester, England, has been restored. 🙌 26 Westgate Street, also known as the Old Judges' House, is the largest surviving historic timber-framed townhouse in England. Today, it's home to the Gloucester Antique Centre. The building had been on our #HeritageAtRisk Register since 2012 due to its decaying condition. Now the building is secure for future generations. #Medieval #HistoryTok #Restoration #England

Is it bigger than the Ancient High House in Stafford? Because as far as I was aware that is considered to be the largest remaining timber framed town house in England.

In Bruges I work in an hospital from 1366. We had an other hospital were my mom was born from 1100. It was still used as a nursing school/ hospital in 1970.

Buildings like these should be used as teaching grounds for those who would like to preserve and resurrect historic building techniques.

My sister used to work in there when it was the bookshop. It was always really spooky up the top. Gorgeous building though (and she had Dame Maggie Smith as a customer whilst they filmed Happy Potter at the cathedral)

This building was the BEST surprise when we visited the antiques centre in Gloucester a couple of years back, though it made my heart hurt how desperately it needed help. I’m so so glad it’s had the love, attention and respect it needs.

God to think how old some of the wood is! He said those trees would’ve been growing in 1350, absolutely wild
