@stupidlittlegenius: Replying to @LynEson🩵 Why does the UK say maths, but the USA says math? Did we add the S or did they take it away? Well one is a medieval fossil, and the other is Noah Webster’s colour obsession! Both are right, both are wrong. British English is spitting its tea out, American English is just plain confused and all we want to do is find the calculator!! I'm curious, what's the real spelling of catalogue?

Then how come Chemistry isn’t plural either? It encompasses a very large amount of topics as well.

It was my understanding in US newspaper's were printed and charged by the letter and not the word as it was in Europe. Hence the fashion to start dropping letters without interfering with the understanding of the word. Any truth in this?

You really should be a presenter on Children's TV. Kids would learn and have fun with you at the same time. Some TV scout, needs to pick you up.

Maths is correct. Noah Webster was completely wrong about the simplification because, for example, colour does use the u but as a vibration rather than a letter; if you say “colour”, the u is ABSOLUTELY there.

I’m British, but cannot for the life of me say maths, not sure why but I struggle to say some words that end in s like for example ghosts, but I can say math so I just say math and sometimes some people notice and tease me for it but they don’t notice it as often as me struggling to say maths lol

uncountables are single case. sand. we only say sands in expressions like the sands of time. same with snow and rain. the singular doesn't mean a single grain, flake, or drop. water also means the whole thing. the meat on a cow includes many varieties of cut, but its all meat not meats.
