Here’s what defines it: · Setting: It takes place in the fictional Norvinsk region of Russia, where two private military companies (USEC and BEAR) are locked in a conflict. Players are "Scavs" (scavengers) trying to survive and escape the sealed-off city of Tarkov. · Core Gameplay: You enter a raid (a large, open map like Customs, Interchange, or Woods) with whatever gear you’ve brought. Your goal is to complete tasks, fight other players and AI, and loot valuable items—then extract at a specific exit point before the raid timer ends. · Permadeath with a twist: If you die during a raid, you lose almost everything you brought in (weapons, armor, loot). Your character’s health carries over between raids, so you must use medical items to heal injuries. · Realism: No minimap, no HUD, no hit markers. You manage detailed health (individual limb damage, fractures, bleeding, hydration, energy). Gunplay features realistic ballistics, recoil, jamming, and weapon modding with hundreds of parts. · Progression: Between raids, you’re in your Hideout, which you can upgrade for crafting, healing, and gym training.
