I don’t understand how anyone can have doubts that Lestat is lying for Louis’s sake. In the restaurant scene, it’s obvious that he’s deeply affected and fully realizes that the waitress looks like Claudia. He’s lying because he can see how harmful it is for Louis. There really isn’t much room for doubt here.

Maybe this is insensitive but STILL louis is loving claudia more than lestat. Lestat still can’t say no to him and still shows up for him only to find out the thing he is showing up for is to console louis’s love for HER again. That must really hurt lestat seriously. I’m tired of louis being so selfish, i know it’s insensitive bc of what happened to claudia but it’s like louis completely detached from the memories before claudia shows up

She looks like her but is not like Claudia in any other way. Lestat can see Regina knows she can manipulate Louis because of the resemblance. Louis is weak and has no judgement in this relationship with Regina. Lestat knows it will crush him.

People have reading comprehension Les “she doesn’t look like her, the eyes…” Lou “it’s her eyes right…” Lestat know that she looks like Claudia but in the same time she doesn’t look like her. He didn’t lie, that girl might have looked like Claudia but she was missing something (obviously) and Louis was just affected that she “looked like” Claudia to stop and think. I think he realized that she was not her (obv) during the boat scene.
