Unfortunately, they can't turn your atm card back on after the acct has been closed, but they need to overnight you a check for those funds immediately, or allow you to pick the money up from a branch.

As a veteran’s wife I highly recommend you get a lawyer and sue them . Also according to the digital.va.gov website it tells you to call the 1-800 immediately to let them know what has happened and to get a new deposit sent to you immediately. But I highly recommend getting a bank account at a credit union.

As a vet, I plan on transferring my deposits to another bank but will not close the original account until my VA funds are showing up first. This seems like a problem that was created instead of making sure the deposits are going completely through before closing the original account.

i’m confused why the bank wouldn’t send you a check? i’ve closed accounts with money in it before and they sent me a check of what was left in my account, they can overnight it

You have the right to ask to be transferred to a US call center. They MUST transfer you immediately. All US companies that use call centers outside of the US must have an active US call center.

Holy 💩.. on the 4th of July this is making my blood boil. I hate Citibank so much I stopped using them 12 years ago, I only community bank now, no credit cards from Citibank or anyone. Thank you to your husband for his service and your family supporting him as well ♥️

Thats where Citibank has screwed up. They do HAVE to have a US customer support to talk to. I caught Citizens bank on this and reported them.
