I went to a music festival with these and my hands aren't even that sore at the end of a full day of crutching around 😍 (but please let's not talk about my wrists 😭) Make sure the gloves that you use have some padding in the areas that have the most pressure (pause vid to see where the padding is). The bonus with gym gloves is they are usually low profile, have no finger tips (so easy to use a phone etc), and are built for protection against abrasion on your palms (exactly where the crutch handles are!).
