In 1992, Denmark granted residence to 321 stateless Palestinian refugees from Lebanon under a special one time law. Years later, Danish authorities tracked this specific group over approximately 27 years.
A widely cited statistic is that 64% of the adults in this cohort had at least one criminal conviction or recorded offense during that period.
However, this does not mean that 64% committed serious crimes. The Danish statistics included a broad range of offenses, including traffic violations and fines. Only a much smaller proportion received prison sentences commonly cited as around 11.5% of the cohort.
Therefore, the study applies only to this specific group of 321 refugees and should not be generalized to all Palestinian refugees or all refugees in Denmark
