I think the expectations for both sides are very different. The new comers feel lonely, homesick, finding a job might be not easy and also feeling of a burden to the sponsors e.t.c . On the sponsor side they might be tired or don’t have time to fulfill the responsibilities of being a sponsor , so they get frustrated. The feeling of being a burden to my sponsor was the hardest for me. I couldn’t find a job for like 3 or 4 months. But now I always called and checking on her all the time and it’s always me who called. I’m gratefull and thankful for her.

When we sponsor someone, family or friends, we did it emotionally, without a full transparency and understanding. We the sponsors, think that the new comer understands our family size and lifestyle once they arrived and he/she will leave and become independent after a few months. The new comers don’t even think that they have to leave and become independent shortly after they arrived. I am not saying all of them. But most of them are thinking to stay until they feel like to leave on their own.😁 There is a huge misunderstanding and zero communication between the sponsors and the new comers. Therefore, everyone is scared of telling the truth, and they live together feeling unhappy under the same roof. This affects the marriage, children in that house and the attitude towards their day to day activities. It becomes a huge burden to support the entire family for indefinite time. The culture put lots of pressure among each other and at the end, they stop communicating while they are living under the same roof. Very sad! I don’t know anyone who left the sponsor’s residence without anger and disagreement. Open communication is not our culture. I believe that is one of the reasons. Great question! Keep it up!
