Abby wasn't a bad person from the start, yes, she was full of hatred because she lost her father, just like Eli felt after Joel died. Unfortunately, it's possible for Eli to behave like this, but not for Abby.

A big point in the 2nd game that few talk about is how the generation that was born after the outbreak was affected. There is a whole point about how the last generation, that has seen the world before, have more remorse and “humanity” in them. Abby and Ellie grew up in a world of violence. It’s the only way they knew how to deal with things. Just like the kids in the aquarium who left their dad because he was too “weak” to avenge their mother. Something that we could consider as strength. The whole game literally surrounds the topic of the last generation’s ability to forgive and move on compared to the younger people. To see Abby and later Ellie actually taking that step is very impressive considering the world they had to grow up in.

I think the both of em are so complex, that its not fair to call either of them bad people. was abby a bad person at the start? to the player, yes. but thats why they make you play as her, to make you realize her n ellie are the same- and they'll do ANYTHING to protect the people they love
