Faiz Ahmad Faiz (1911-1984) was a renowned Pakistani Urdu poet, journalist, and intellectual who combined traditional romantic poetry with revolutionary ideas. Born on February 13, 1911, in Sialkot, Punjab, he studied Arabic and English literature and developed a deep understanding of both classical and modern literary traditions. He served in the British-Indian Army during World War II before leaving in 1947 to pursue journalism and editorial work in Pakistan. During the 1950s, he was imprisoned in connection with the Rawalpindi Conspiracy Case, and his experiences in prison inspired some of his most powerful poetry. Faiz's work beautifully connected the emotions of love (ishq) with the struggle for social change and revolution (inqilab). He skillfully used traditional forms such as the ghazal and nazm to express themes of love, hope, oppression, injustice, and the suffering of ordinary people. His major works include Naqsh-e-Faryadi (1943), Dast-e-Saba (1952), and Zindan Nama (1956). In recognition of his remarkable literary contribution, he received the prestigious Lenin Peace Prize in 1962. He died in Lahore on November 20, 1984, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the most influential Urdu poets of the modern era. @faiz.recitals #viral #faizahmedfaiz #rekhta #urdupoetry #faizpoetry
