I tried cognitive behavioural therapy & many of the SSRI drugs but nothing worked. I tried for decade's to get help but thing's changed for the better in 2020. It was during the 1st COVID lockdown & my GP said she could no longer help me & I was mad. She referred me back to see a physchicatrist at the hospital. All the appointments I had were on the telephone. He offered me Clomipramine at a low dosage to start with. Prior to starting I had to go to hospital for a ECG to make sure my heart was ok. I didn't hold out much hope at the start because I just didn't think any medication could help. I think it was about 3 month's before I was on the maximum dosage. By 4 month's I started to believe this was working. I'm now nearly 6 year's on the medication & I'm in full remission. The meds do have a lot of side effects but I accept that for having a life back

What type of therapy or treatment is better suited for ocd? I recently went back to my psychiatrist after 3yrs they don’t think i should start medication again and instead recommended i try counseling. I’ve been to 2 talk therapy sessions with another provider and it’s not sticking. I feel lighter after the session but in between days my anxiety is more aggravated. Breathwork and other coping mechanisms, calming techniques i use before are not effective or helping me right now.
