I was Finn in this situation at one point. this show means so much to me. I felt like I was being seen to some capacity. especially around this bit. I ruined my first by just being a terrible person n honestly talking to other people. and then I was back n forth n tried to manipulate the situation in my favor. it didn't work thankfully but it took until my senior year of highschool to really understand what Finn meant in this apology and it clicked for me in some way. idk. seeing this scene always brings me to teary eyes bc he's just a baby boy trying his hardest. it wasn't appropriate how he manipulated his girl and Simon but he learned from his mistakes and giving that honest apology after understanding will always be something I hold close. it takes a lot of time and understanding to come to this and actually mean it. not to just the person you did dirty to but to yourself. it took years for me to forgive myself for how I acted. it was embarrassing and it wasn't how I was raised but I forgive myself and I apologized properly. she ended up forgiving me our senior year, but she got in trouble bc I showed up to her place while she was sick lol.
