It means you’re parenting a brain that can go fast… but can’t stop yet. 🧠 Between ages 2–4, their “GO system” is strong… ❌ Impulses are fast ❌ Emotions are big ❌ Self-control is still developing ✔️ It’s not defiance ✔️ It’s not manipulation ✔️ It’s development That’s why they hit, scream, resist… Not because they want chaos. Because they don’t have the skills yet. Here’s the shift that changes everything: ✔️ Stay close ✔️ Hold the boundary ✔️ Co-regulate first ✔️ Teach later Instead of: ❌ “How many times do I have to tell you?” Try: ✔️ “I’m going to help you stop.” Your child doesn’t need more pressure. They need: ✔️ A calm nervous system to borrow ✔️ Simple boundaries (repeated often) ✔️ Less shame, more guidance This is not bad behavior.
