A little orphan boy brought bread and wine to Jesus. And Jesus came down for him. In 1955, a Spanish Catholic film told the story of Marcelino, a baby abandoned on the steps of a Franciscan monastery. Raised by a dozen kind but flustered friars. Loved, but alone. The one thing he wanted more than anything was the one thing they couldn’t give him. His mother. The monks warned him never to go to the attic. They told him a “very big man” lived up there. But Marcelino disobeyed. And instead of a monster, he found a crucifix. A life sized statue of Jesus on the cross. The boy didn’t run. He looked at the figure and thought it looked hungry and cold. So he did what only a child’s heart would think to do, he snuck bread and wine from the kitchen and brought it to Jesus. Every day. In secret. Bread and wine offered with the hands of a child who just wanted to feed his Friend. And Jesus came alive. He came down from the cross, sat with the boy, and shared the meal. “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14 When Jesus offered the boy one wish, Marcelino didn’t ask for toys. He didn’t ask for freedom. He didn’t ask for anything this world could give. He asked to see his mother. He asked to see the Virgin Mary. And Jesus held him in His arms. And Marcelino fell asleep. And he went home. “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3 The friars found him glowing. The monastery became a shrine. And a 1955 film showed the world what childlike faith actually looks like. A boy who brought bread and wine to a wooden cross. And a God who came down because of it. 🗡️ Follow @daily.theos for faith that doesn’t flinch. DM for credit.
