DC's Absolute line proves Supes have plenty of gas in the tank if you're willing to try new things. absolute batman is just "hey what if we put a little Berserk in there" and it's the biggest comic out right now.

The problem with superhero movies is that there is no ending in any of the lore. We have origin stories, and countless legendary adventures, but no endings.

My only fear is that Disney will hamper and real experimentation with Marvel. I can see the same fatigue happening with star wars and sci-fi at large. But again there was a revitalization with BSG and the Star Wars prequels in the early 2000s, so it just needs another revitalization.

If studios want us to watch superhero movies, break the formula most of us grew tired of. Give us something we’ve never seen the genre do before. I Was so disappointed that the Doctor Strange Sequel was advertised as “The First Marvel Horror Movie” only for it to be the same formulaic stuff we’ve seen far too much of.
