This is how we grow 8 kilos of basil vertically on aeroponic towers. 1.Rockwool: Before sowing, we soak our rockwool cubes in reverse osmosis water adjusted to the ideal pH for seed germination (around 5.5–6.0). This fully saturates the growing medium and creates the perfect environment for fast and uniform sprouting. 2. Basil Seeds: We've found that sowing 6 seeds per growing cube produces the highest yields while still giving each plant enough space to develop into a dense, healthy bunch. 3. Vermiculite: After sowing, we lightly cover the seeds with vermiculite. This naturally occurring mineral improves moisture retention, helps keep the seeds in place, and creates ideal conditions for successful germination. 4. Seedlings: After about 3 weeks, the seedlings should have developed at least two true leaves and are ready to be transplanted into the towers. 5. Transplanting: Every growing port on the tower is planted, allowing a single tower to support up to 52 basil bunches while maximizing production in a very small footprint. 6. Growth Cycle: Once transplanted, the roots hang freely inside the tower and are intermittently irrigated with nutrient enriched water containing all the essential macro and micronutrients needed for healthy growth. This highly oxygenated root environment allows the basil to grow rapidly and produce exceptional yields. 7. Harvest: Around 6 weeks after transplanting, the basil is ready to harvest. We prefer harvesting before the plants flower heavily, as flowering changes the flavor of the leaves. Although pruning can encourage bushier growth, our basil already reaches an impressive size, so we simply harvest the crop and replace it with fresh seedlings for the next cycle. #basil #farming #agriculture #vegetable #gardening
