This is so sad but also so true. People truly don't understand who havent lost a parent. People who I haven't spoke to in years showed up to my mom's funeral but friends who I was friends with for years didn't show up. I remember asking friends to go to lunch after bc I just wanted something to take my mind off of the day..... they didn't come. I went home by myself and sat in silence.

I distanced myself from my own sisters,aunts,uncles, cousins. That’s when I understood why my mom kept us away from her family when we were kids and remember all her warnings. My daughter seen how they all dragged me after my mom passed away that she doesn’t want anything to do with them either.

I asked my mom's "favorite cousin" to sing at her services..she told me she had girls trip that same day and she just KNEW my mom would rather her go on her trip than sing at funeral. I try not to hold grudges, but in this case I won't be letting it go.

when I lost my dad, I reached out to a 15 year friend because I needed someone to hold onto. She said "I dont do grief". We never spoke again.

She said “we’re all going through things” just 2 months after my mom died. My mom had always fed her and given her rides when we were teenagers, her siblings too. I think my mom showed me a lot of people’s true colors, I feel lighter without them. It’s only been a little over 3 months now

I lost my mum two years ago and my dad two months ago .. the biggest gift they gave me since they have been gone .. is seeing people for exactly who they are !! Nothing in this world can shatter me like losing my parents … so no one else is a loss in my life

my dad made sure to send me a text saying he wasnt coming to the funeral, because the woman who died wasnt the woman he married - they had been divorced for awhile, but it still wouldve been nice to have his love and support.

I only realised 4 years after my dad passed that NOBODY from my family offered me ANY HELP, or any SUPPORT MESSAGES, I was 23 and alone in a different country, literally nobody offered any support. 4 years passed now and I’m like Wait a second….. nobody helped not even with just WORDS
