THIS…. is why I cancelled my insurance in January. Everything is cheaper without it.

Insurance is basically becoming what you use for a catastrophic medical event- otherwise it’s becoming cheaper to just do cash pay price. Which is insane.

$400 is astronomical. $120 is still absolutely ridiculous for 10 minutes.

I had to go to the ER last year. The bill was over $25,000. When they found out I didn’t have insurance it was just about $1000.💯 They overcharge insurance companies and that’s why we’re in this mess

I have Lyme disease and the only doctors that treat it as a chronic illness are out of network and I had a Lyme specialist who charged $50 per MINUTE. Our healthcare system is a joke

All insurance is a scam, especially health Insurance is a scam. I always self pay and have just a catastrophic policy just in case. Self pay is always significantly discounted.

U can have health insurance but not pay a premium (what gets taken out ur paycheck) so when u get services done ur paying “more” cuz u kept alll the $ that didn’t taken out ur paycheck - this is a good plan for those who don’t require many visits to the dr

Medical offices hard to overbill like crazy because insurance pays a fraction of the billable rate

I joined a local doctor's clinic this year. i pay $100 a month (less than my insuramce was), no money for visits (it averaged about $175 per five-monute visit under insurance), $4 antibiotics ($60 with insuance), $45 bloodwork once a year ($200 with insurance). etc. The rest of the money i was paying each check to insurance I just put in a HYSA. im at over $1000 in six months that is strictly for medical stuff. im 37 with no health conditions, so this is what works for me.

$299/mo for my daughters accutane with insurance. $99 paying cash. Doesn’t count towards my ungodly deductible I will never hit anyways.

Get an invoice from them and send it as an “out of network claim” and it might actually go to your deductible

As someone who works in claims, this doesn’t sound right at all. I would ask for a code review. Was it a private clinic or outside of office hours? Did they order you to go get labs at their clinic? The bill has to be coded incorrectly, they need to compare to your chart notes.
