@jeffharryplays: What am I choosing to celebrate this July 4th? I’m choosing to celebrate bravery in protest. Air Force Major Jason Watson protested on the steps of the capitol. For this, he will lose his retirement, benefits, VA status, and will now be considered a felon. He chosen to sacrifice his military career to fight for democracy. I’m choosing to celebrate the Delaney protesters and every other person who has chosen to protest 🧊 concentration camps, which currently hold 73,000 people unlawfully. For context, 73,000 is the capacity of the largest World Cup stadium in the US. It takes bravery to protest and show your face. Unlikely, the anti-democracy group that showed up to DC to intimidate while hiding their faces. They know there time is almost up, so the only way for them to keep power is through fascism. Their views and values are becoming obsolete, so they’ve chosen to hide their faces, which isn’t a sign of strong masculinity, but cowardice. If July 4th is supposed to celebrate American Democracy, shouldn’t we celebrate the people that are choosing to fight for democracy through their first amendment right to protest? #4thofjuly #protest #democracy #fifaworldcup #firstamendment
