@newsnationnow: President Trump delivered a truncated speech to thousands on the National Mall late Saturday after storms temporarily closed events marking the 250th anniversary of America. The Republican president mostly stuck to America’s history and accomplishments but took a few of his signature swipes at Democrats by highlighting the voting measure SAVE America Act and blasting what he calls the re-emergence of communism — a reference to Democratic Socialists who have gained traction in recent primary elections. “It’s like a cancer,” Trump said of communism. “You’ve got to cut it out. You’ve got to cut it out fast.” But the president was generally focused on military heroes, including centenarian veteran heroes from World War II; descendants of American icons such as Francis Scott Key, author of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and the crew of the Artemis II moon mission — all of whom joined Trump onstage. “Our country is just getting started because the best is yet to come,” he said.
