@cassondrachristman: I kept finding reasons to make the day last a little longer. We got a snack. Sat in the car for over an hour. Anything to avoid opening that shelter door on the Fourth of July. Tonight he’ll sleep in an outdoor kennel while fireworks go off all around him. He doesn’t understand why I have to leave, only that I do. If you’re on Maui and can foster, even for just a few days, the shelter provides all supplies and anti-anxiety medication if needed.
