I was told that Western racism to Black is about hate, China racism to Black almostly is ignorant. 🤔

That makes me happy to hear that as an Asian American. Happy to know you are living without feeling tense. That you’re feeling free and relaxed. That’s awesome.

I’m Chinese. Most Chinese are not racist to black people. But many of them may never meet a black person for their entire life. So they may behave ignorant and curious about skin color or haircut style.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Everything you said is on point. As a Chinese person when I try to explain this to ppl comes off as trying to excuse racism in China. So you sharing your lived experience is helping change the perspective.

Chinese may stare out of curiosity but Chinese police don’t carry guns and you’ll never be physically harmed based on your skin colour in China.

Neighbours were whuttt? I’m from Singapore I thought that shit died long ago. Asians are just curious, we aren’t hateful. The worse would be some old or young Asian wondering why are you there and maybe ignorance from the news. But they are harmless. Truly.

Thank you for sharing your perspective with such maturity. There’s racism at times but in such low levels and without violence in China and like you said there’s no malice behind a lot of examples. But so many creators use this as rage bait. So every voice of moderation like yours is so important. Thank you

Couldn’t agree more. Chinese “racism” is rarely stemmed from hate, but from low exposure. Is it annoying? Yeah sure, but when you were born and raised in a country where racism is always malicious and you suddenly enter a country where the racism is just curiosity, it’s a huge weight off your shoulders that you never even knew you carried. All the dumb stereotypes that you grew up with don’t even exist over there. They don’t know anything about watermelon or fried chicken, because everyone loves watermelon and fried chicken in China, they don’t even think of it as a thing
